SLIC 1200 - Smithbackyard.com Lighting and Irrigation Controller
The purpose of this project is to create a reliable irrigation and accent lighting controller. I chose to use the Siemens Simatic S7-1200 PLC as the main component that will act as the timer.
The interface to the SLIC 1200 was originally going to use the web server on the PLC but after testing various device such as iPads, Playstations, Blackberrys and varoius web browsers, I decided that the web browsers performance varied too much to be reliable. I decided to add a Siemens Simatic HMI Basic Panel to the project as an optional device to view and configure the SLIC 1200. I also decided to create an Android application as another option to view and configure the SLIC 1200.
